How Should I Care For My Swim Cap? Pool chemicals & oil residues can be particularly damaging to swimwear containing lycra. To prevent damage, rinse your swim cap in cold water immediately after each use. Do not wash your swim cap with any detergant. Always hang-dry your swim cap in a well-ventilated space, as mildew will cause premature deterioration of swim caps containing lycra
